FAQ

  • Starts: Monday April 26th 
  • Ends:  Depending on the Division, league play ends anywhere between the end of June and the first week of July.
What does is cost to play?
  • Mini's $100
  • 12U $250
  • 14U, $250
  • 17U $275
  • Mini's have their Skills ans games on Monday night 6:00pm at Hector Arena
  • For all other divisions, the game schedule will not be determined until the end of April.  Games occur between Monday and Sunday.  
  • All practices are held at the Hector Arena in Pictou  on Mondays, Wednesday.
 
​What equipment is needed to start playing Lacrosse?
  • Mini Players will need a hockey helmet (or lacrosse helmet) and mask. Hockey Gloves (or lacrosse) and a lacrosse Stick. Indoor Running shoes and shorts. T shirts will be provided.
  • All other levels will need a hockey helmet (or lacrosse helmet) and mask. Hockey Gloves (or lacrosse) and a lacrosse Stick Hockey shoulder pads (or lacrosse), elbow pads, Jock/Jill, and Box Lacrosse rib pads. Indoor Running shoes and shorts. Jerseys will be provided.  We suggest to purchase a lacrosse mask as they are stronger.
My child wants to play goalie, but I do not have any equipment?
  • No problem.  Goalie equipment is provided by the association and must be returned in good condition at the end of the season.
  • Goalies must provide the following themselves: hockey pants, jill/cup, hockey gloves and helmet with facemask.
  • When this happens, then the position of goalie is rotated through all the players on the team.
  • August - November:  Field Lacrosse
    • Men's Field Lacrosse www.nsfll.ca (for both boys and girls)
    • Women's Field Lacrosse www.nswfll.ca (website comming soon)
  • October - April:  Off-Season Training for players interested in trying out for a provincial team (www.lacrossens.ca)
  • Most sporting goods stores will carry some form of lacrosse gear, though a fairly limited selection (Canadian Tire, Sports Chek, Cleve's, etc)
  • Sportwheels in Sackville also has a good selection as well as online.
  • Check Kijiji As well for used gear.
  • Just about anything you want!  We would be happy to have you.
  • Lacrosse is enjoying rapid growth, and there is a lot of opportunties at the team, club, association and provinical level to get involved and help out.
  • If you have experience as a coach in another sport (hockey, basketball, ringette, soccer, etc) and wish to get involved, we will provided you with a course and pair you up with another person who knows the game and can provide mentorship and guidance thoughout the season.

  • ​Yes, but having previous coaching experience is not a requirement.  
  • Pictou County Lacrosse is always looking for coaches, assistant coaches, managers, and door openers for games.
  • Our preference is to have all head coaches NCCP Lacrosse trained and as many of our assistant coaches too.  
  • Pictou County Lacrosse wants all Mini and Peewee coaches to be Community Development Trained.
  • Pictou County Lacrosse wants all Bantam, Midget, Intermediate and Junior coaches to be Competitive introduction Trained 
  • Training is generally organized thru Lacrosse Nova Scotia and takes place over two days in Mar/Apr and includes on-floor training as well as classroom
  • Not right away, but we can put you on the path to certification to help keep those extra funds coming in.
